What do we do?

While schematically writing down our core values, I came across the following sentence: “We are pigs, not chickens”. As an administrative employee with no IT jargon, I was a bit taken aback to suddenly read about pigs and chickens. Triggered by the underlying message of this quote, I decided to investigate.

The Java2Days conference is one of the largest Java conferences in Eastern Europe, with a rich history dating back to 2009. In the 2022 edition, our colleague Taner shared his experiences with Apache Kafka in a “Kafka as a database” session.

On May 25 and 26, we were guests at JPrime, a two-day conference in Sofia organized by the Bulgarian Java User Group and supported by several IT companies. It offers IT people with a focus on Java the opportunity to learn, network and have fun!

The year was 1999: after having graduated from the university of Antwerp, I was ready to make my first career steps in Java software development. I started as a junior consultant at a small software company. I loved the atmosphere of working at a company where everyone knew who everyone else was, a feeling that I’ve carried over to the career choices I’ve made later in life.
